Canadian osteopathic manual practitioner, Dr. Shawn Pourgol, MBA, DC, DO, PhD. is the founder and first president of California Health University. The University was registered with the California Secretary of State on February 26, 2023 as a school to expand the professions of osteopathic manual practice and naprapathy in California.
Dr. Pourgol has extensive experience in the field of osteopathic manual practice and naprapathy, having established schools such as National Academy of Osteopathy - Canada (founded in 2010), National University of Medical Sciences - Spain (founded in 2012) and National University of Medical Sciences - USA (founded in 2016). Dr. Pourgol is the largest provider of manual osteopathic education in the world with students in 72 countries. Most osteopathic manual practitioners in Canada, the United States and many other countries are his students. Dr. Pourgol created the Osteopathy Chronic pain Clinics of Canada in 2017 as a way to ensure every person in the world would have access to manual osteopathic chronic pain management.
OCPCC currently operates 376 clinics in 33 countries including a number of clinics here in California. All health professionals working at OCPCC clinics have taken a fellowship program in manual osteopathy chronic pain management at National Academy of Osteopathy - Canada. In 2011 Dr Pourgol founded June 22nd (when osteopathy was born) as the World Osteopathy Day which is now celebrated across the world. Currently Dr Pourgol is in the process of setting up the Pourgol Osteopathy Chronic Pain Hospital in Panama and Pourgol Osteopathy Chronic Pain Research Center in Spain.
